Faces of AntiqueMalls.com-Cassidie

My name is Cassidie Harrington and I have been working as a programming intern since May 2011.  I really enjoy working for Vintage Software because I have a great boss and awesome co-workers!  How often do you hear of someone actually enjoying work?  I look forward to finishing my Computer Information Systems degree at Southeast Missouri State University shortly so I can become a full time employee.

I like riding bikes and taking long walks on the beach--just kidding!  I like video games (Mortal Kombat is the best!) and online karaoke.  I enjoy learning languages.  I currently speak English and Spanish.  I hope to add a few more to my repertoire (See? I'm already starting!).  Also, I have to say I'm a pretty big cat lover, but I'm married, so I can't be called the "Crazy Cat Lady."  Food is good, too.  I love beef jerky and being that I am originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Skyline is the best chili around!

Faces of AntiqueMalls.com - Josh

Hi, I'm Josh. I'm typically known as the webpage guy. My job is to help you build a website that you are happy with and that we can host for you.
A little about me. I was actually born in Florida and moved 8 times before I was 15 years old, and no my dad wasn't in the military. I graduated high school here in Jackson, MO and went to college for two semesters. I messed around a little too much and decided to join the Navy to help get some discipline and get my education paid for. I wound up moving back to Jackson after I got out of the military and am now in the process of getting my bachelors degree in computer science. When I'm not working here, or studying, or playing with my boys (read between 1am and 3am); I like to play some video games and if I get a chance and it's nice ride my motorcycle.
One of the things that I love about AntiqueMalls.com is that if you want to have a website for your business then we can build it for you and then if you want to make any changes you can through our custom content management system (CMS) where you don't have to know any code or html you just type it in and what you see is what you get.

Faces of AntiqueMalls.com-Katie

Hi there, my name is Katie. Anytime you might need help navigating the site, or have an "Uh-oh!" moment, I'm the gal on the other end of the line when the need arises.

I'm a native of Missouri, but could never resist the opportunity to explore other cities and states while I had the chance. After having lived in Charlottesville, Atlanta, Chicago, and later becoming an army wife stationed at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, I eventually made my way back to Missouri with my husband and daughter.

When I'm not masquerading as a walking Kleenex and personal butler to a two year old, any free time I have is spent; conquering new recipes, snapping photos here and there, and treating my cast iron skillet like it's the holy grail (thanks to St. Mary's Antique Mall in Saint Mary, MO for the great find!).

Also, I love conspiracy therories - the more outlandish the better! So if we get a chance to chat and you have a good one, share away!

Faces of AntiqueMalls.com-Steve

Hi, I'm Steve. I am one of the programmers here at Vintage. When you leave feedback about what features you would like to see on AntiqueMalls.com, I'm part of the team that tries to make those ideas a reality.

In 2010 I graduated from college with a B.S. in computer science. Three days after graduating I started working for Vintage as an intern and came aboard full time shortly thereafter. The atmosphere at Vintage Software, a small but rapidly growing business, makes working here very exciting. In addition to working at Vintage Software I am also a full time student. I am expecting to graduate with an M.S. in computer science this December. When I'm not working or studying I enjoy watching movies, playing video games, and reading.

In programming AntiqueMalls.com, I have been surprised by the number of antique malls there are throughout the country. Using the trip planning feature on the site to plan a 100 mile trip from work to my hometown of St. Louis, MO shows 39 malls along the route and around the St. Louis area. I have lived in this area my entire life and never knew there were so many antique malls!

Faces of AntiqueMalls.com-Rob

I'm Rob, a programmer/developer here at Vintage. I started here as an intern in May of 2010 and accepted a full time position when I graduated Southeast Missouri State University in December of that same year, with a B.S. in Computer Information Systems.

I got into the field of programming in my mid-thirties, when I returned to college as a non-traditional student (read: old guy), but have always enjoyed working with computers and am glad to be employed at a small company with a high focus on employee development.

A feature I'm looking forward to helping develop on AntiqueMalls.com is the ability to buy and sell Antiques directly on the site from participating Antique Malls. I'm not much of a shopper, and although I'm aware I'm probably in the minority in this, if I'm looking for something I'd much rather enter it in a search bar and let the computer find it for me than look for it myself. There have to be a few people out there that feel the same way.

When not at work I enjoy cooking, video games, and following professional football. I'm also a bit of a movie buff. Some of my favorite classic films include Seven Samurai, The Maltese Falcon, and Strangers on a Train. Oh, and Rear Window. Jimmie Stewart was awesome in that.

Faces of AntiqueMalls.com-Lilly

Hey! I’m Lillian, the graphic designer at Vintage Software. I started working here in May of 2010, and it has been a blast working for this company!

I’ve lived in Cape Girardeau, Missouri most of my life, but before that I lived in Lincoln, Nebraska. I was a huge Cornhuskers fan back in the day. I’m currently a student at Southeast Missouri State University working on a BFA in Graphic Design. During the semester I enjoy drawing, painting, sculpting, and (soon) weaving. When I am on break, I also spend time practicing guitar, playing video games, and going to the shooting range. I also love to travel and learn different languages.

Many things have appeared in my office lately, including Sir Cuts-A-Lot. He’s a tin suit of armor we picked up at an antique mall. He adds quite a bit of character to the place. We have all sorts of interesting things here at the office. I must admit, I haven’t been to many antique malls around the area, but I love exploring the local antique and craft shops in downtown Cape.

Random Question: Who is a famous person that shares your birthday?
Buddy Holly

Faces of Antique Malls - Micky

Hi, I'm Micky. I help run Vintage Software along with my wife and parents. We are doing a little series on the blog here to let everyone know who all is behind the scenes here at AntiqueMalls.com. I guess I'll come out of the cave for a little bit and be the first one to go!

I'm originally from Tennessee, but now call Missouri home with my wife, Courtney, and our two boys. I'm a programmer and developed the first version of AntiqueMalls.com three years ago. It has been worked on by several other folks since then and has been greatly improved. (You'll hear from them in the next few weeks.) I've been programming for about 15 years and have loved every minute of it.

My favorite feature on the site is the trip planner. Courtney and I often visit antique malls when we travel. The trip planner lets us easily find malls to visit. I'm always looking for a new (old) sign for my office. Courtney is always looking for old crock bowls. Other than programming, I really enjoy woodworking and playing "old-school" video games with my kids.

Marty at an Antique Store

I guess that's about it. Oh, here's a random question: What's your favorite 80's movie? Mine is Back to the Future. I believe Marty visits an antique store in one of them right?

Hiring and Moving and Updating, Oh My!

2011 has been a very big year for AntiqueMalls.com.  We have hired four new employees (two computer programmers, one marketing associate, and one customer service representative).  We have also completed a major update of AntiqueMalls.com making it much more functional for customers and mall owners alike.  With all of these changes and growth occurring, it was time to look for a new, larger space.

In September, we bid our home of a little over a year on North Missouri Street in Jackson, Missouri goodbye and moved across town to South High Street where we settled into the upper part of the Andrew Jackson building.  Nearly triple in size, it certainly was a positive adjustment for us all.

Our new office, built in 1895, was formerly a law office and an apartment so it took some work to turn it into a workable office space.  One advantage to working in a former living space is the large kitchen.  We’ve already taken advantage by having chili day and chicken quesadilla day.  We have searched local antique malls and estate sales to furnish our new space with antiques and old signage (it’s only appropriate right?).

We are looking forward to the surprises and adventures awaiting us in 2012!
